JOB DESCRIPTION
Volunteer Services Coordinator (agency-wide)
Minimum Education and Experience
A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in human services or related field is required. The baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and a degree or equivalent experience. Must have excellent communications, interpersonal, and follow-through skills. Able and willing to staff occasional evening and weekend events. Ability to work cooperatively with volunteers and staff. Good organizational skills and knowledge of supervisory skills. Training experience preferred.
Objectives
To provide direction and management of an agency-wide volunteer program, thereby supporting the agency’s capacity to provide casework and support services to families and individuals in the community and increasing community awareness and support for the Partnership through in-kind and volunteer involvement, reporting to the Director of Human Resources.
Duties and Responsibilities
a) To design and administer a system of volunteer management including:
- job identification (in collaboration with staff)
- development of written job descriptions
- staff training in volunteer supervision
- volunteer recruitment
- timely, accurate processing, screening and placement of volunteer applicants
- volunteer orientation to the Partnership
- orientation to staff and volunteers regarding volunteer rights and responsibilities
- working with staff to develop appropriate volunteer training
- working with staff to supervise, schedule and evaluate volunteers
- collection and maintenance of volunteer records, including
- application materials, including reference and security checks, as appropriate
- volunteer hours
- job-specific forms (e.g., liability forms, training agreements, etc.)
- periodic and exit evaluations
- convening regular meetings with any other staff who may coordinate volunteers
b) To initiate and organize volunteer recognition activities.
c) To assist with volunteer/staff communications.
d) To participate in community activities related to volunteerism and promotion of the agency.
e) To work with administrative and program staff to develop understanding, acceptance and appropriate utilization of volunteer services.
f) To inform volunteers of agency activities, in order to foster growth and involve them as agency advocates
g) To assure confidentiality of information related to clients, personnel and other information of a confidential nature.
h) To consult regularly with administrative, supervisory and direct services staff, in order to maximize utilization, documentation and appreciation of volunteer contributions
i) To promote and monitor in-kind contributions to all agency programs, particularly those provided during the winter holiday season
j) To facilitate “holiday cheer” program, which involves a community-wide and agency-wide effort to collect and distribute gifts to clients during the winter holiday season.
k) To provide staff services to agency committees, as assigned.
l) To work collaboratively as a team member to provide support to agency programs, activities, etc.
m) To carry other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
