Habitat for Humanity of Greater Chattanooga

Position: Executive Director

Major Responsibilities
The Executive Director is responsible and accountable to the Board of Directors for the effective and efficient financial, operational and administrative management of the Habitat for Humanity of Greater Chattanooga (HFHGC) affiliate. The Director provides overall leadership for the affiliate in accordance with the policies, objectives, and directions of the affiliate Board of Directors to promote the overall vision, direction, health and growth of the affiliate.

General Administration
Designs, recommends and implements financial, operational and administrative programs. Performs screening, hiring, and termination of staff. Provides direction, training, guidance and supervision for staff, interns, and volunteers. Administers and manages daily office operations. Insures that affiliate policies are carried out as directed. Supports the activities of the committees. Administers fiscal control, accountability, budget reporting; and approves all operational and building expenditures. Provides execution of all grant and contract performance requirements. Supports annual board retreat for affiliate evaluation, goal setting, and strategic planning. Assists Board Chair in setting the agenda for Board meetings, attends Board meetings and provides reports of all affiliate activities to the Board. Works closely with the Director of the ReStore to oversee all store activities, including staffing, marketing, procurement of items, and financial activities.

Leadership for Fund Raising and Public Relations
Seeks out and applies for grants for affiliate to augment the dollars provided for overhead costs and building homes. Explores funding sources within the community for continued operation. Works with the Resource Development Committee to establish a resource development strategy and assist in its implementation. Represents the affiliate to all interested communities including public relations and community outreach. Provides a positive visibility of the HFHGC affiliate in the communities served.

Recruitment and Training
Assists in recruiting people from the community to serve on the HFHGC Board of Directors and established committees. Assists in providing new Board Member orientation. Arranges training opportunities for Board and committee members.

Faith Commitment and Servant Leadership
The candidate must have a faith commitment and servant leadership skills that are compatible with the principles and purposes of Habitat for Humanity.

Qualifications
Baccalaureate in Management, Human Resources, Business Administration, or related area; or an equivalent combination of education and life work experience. Experience in financial and administrative management, including budgeting, accounting, and personnel procedures. Demonstrated leadership abilities and strong organizational skills. Ability to establish, foster and maintain effective working relationships with the Board of Directors, staff, volunteers, the public, and community service agencies. A working knowledge of standard business software. Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with an ability to transcend all socio-economic levels.

Position
This is a full-time exempt position. Standard benefits include but are not limited to health insurance, 403(b) retirement plan, holiday, vacation, and personal time off. Salary is commensurate with experience but not less than $50,000 annually. We are an equal opportunity employer.

Please do not submit letters of recommendation. Include a list of three to five references the Search Committee may contact. Permission for a background check will be requested from all finalists. Finalists will be interviewed by the Search Committee and meet with the Board of Directors. We hope to select a new Executive Director by Spring 2009. We desire to have a successful candidate working in transition with the Interim Executive Director beginning in late Spring 2009.
