Position Description – November 2009

 

Mission:

The DSC Foundation cultivates, solicits, and manages private support for the benefit of the students, faculty and staff, programs, and campus of Dalton State College.  The Foundation is committed to raising awareness of the College and its programs, maximizing fundraising potential, strategically investing the endowment to ensure its growth over time, and providing the necessary capital and endowment support to offer a quality higher education experience.  The Foundation partners with Dalton State College as the friend-raising and fundraising component of the institution.

Director of Institutional Advancement

 

Classification:

Full-time, salaried, with comprehensive benefits

 

Basic function:

The Development Coordinator is responsible for the planning, marketing, implementation, and review of the annual fund, a consistent fundraising initiative to secure sustainable unrestricted philanthropic support for Dalton State College, and for other development initiatives of the Foundation.

 

Responsibilities:

The Development Coordinator will:

  • manage an effective annual fund program consisting of personal / telephone / email / mail solicitations, special events, and an annual faculty/staff campaign;
  • publish an annual report and other regular communications to donors;
  • prepare annual fund marketing materials including emails, web pages, videos, phone scripts, mailings, and other pieces;
  • foster both on and off campus an environment of philanthropic support for Dalton State;
  • collaborate with Foundation and Dalton State colleagues to ensure clear and consistent messaging to donors and prospects; and
  • fulfill other professional duties as may be requested by the President, the Director of Institutional Advancement, or the DSC Foundation’s Board of Trustees.

 

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter demonstrating strategic thinking, problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills, as well as attention to detail, integrity, creativity, teamwork, flexibility, and a sense of humor.  Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills are required.  Computer proficiency is a must, particular in Microsoft Office suite.  Some evenings and weekends will be required, as will occasional out-of-town or overnight travel.  A bachelor’s degree is required, with a preference in marketing or communications.

 

Performance review:

Annually, with a provisional review after the first six months.
