INFORMATION SYSTEMS MANAGER

Psi Chi, The International Honor Society in Psychology

 

Psi Chi, the International Honor Society in Psychology, was founded in 1929 with the mission of encouraging, stimulating and maintaining excellence in scholarship and advancing the science of psychology. Headquartered in Chattanooga, Psi Chi is the largest disciplinary honor society with over 1,100 chapters and 560,000 members. The Information Systems Manager is responsible for the information systems at the Psi Chi Central Office. Responsibilities will include database, email, and networking development, information technology infrastructure and maintenance and website. The ISM will also be responsible for strategically planning for information systems developments and for managing the budget related to equipment maintenance and development.

 

Responsibilities include:

1.    Database

a.    Creating and maintaining in-house databases (members, chapters, awards, etc.)

b.    Coordinating transfer of information from the database to the website

c.    Evaluating database software needs for Central Office

 

2.    Email

a.    In conjunction with the Executive Officer, preparing and sending the biweekly (September-May) email Psi Chi Digest

b.    Preparing and sending other mass emails (regional information, advisor invitations, graduating members, and others as requested)

c.    Assisting, as needed, with management of general Psi Chi email account

 

3.    Website

a.    Oversight of web developer to ensure that:

                                          i.    Website is kept up to date with informational materials and software/programming used

                                         ii.    Website is online and running smoothly

                                        iii.    Regular maintenance is performed

b.    Administering E-commerce effectively and efficiently

c.    Strategically planning improvements for the staff and end user

d.    Ensuring security for sensitive areas

 

4.    Office Computer Network System and Infrastructure

a.    Evaluating and recommending new hardware/software purchases

b.    Coordinating purchases/deliveries with computer hardware/software suppliers

c.    Troubleshooting and supporting Central Office users & their hardware/software

d.    Performing maintenance on printers, copiers, etc. as needed

 

5.    Disaster Recovery and Emergency Planning

a.    24/7 availability in case of emergency; may be asked to work early, late, weekend, and/or holiday hours

b.    Updating and suggesting revisions to the Psi Chi COOP plan

c.    Providing annual training on the COOP plan to the Psi Chi staff

d.    Ensuring regular backups are being conducted with off site storage

e.    Disaster recovery planning and implementation

 

6.    Assisting the Executive Officer as needed

 

 

Position Requirements

Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 3 years of information technology experience.  

U.S. citizen or otherwise authorized to work in the United States

·Proficiency in SQL and FileMaker

Website experience to include proficiency in .Net framework, IIS 5 and/or 6

(virtual directories and security), MS Visual Studio 2005 or 2008, XML, CSS, JavaScript, Ajax, ASP, vbscript, SQL 2000/2005, web services, source safe

3-4 years experience administering, networking, and supporting Windows and Mac servers

Excellent planning skills and the ability to prioritize and track assignments

Excellent problem solving skills

Superb organizational and documentation skills, with attention to detail

Strong interpersonal skills and manage work in a team environment

Excellent project management skills

Ability to grow and guide less experienced staff

 

Preferred Qualifications

MCAD, MCSA and/or MCSE certifications

· CCNA

·A+ certification

Master’s degree

 

Compensation

Annual salary competitive with IT management positions in the Chattanooga and SE regions. A generous benefits package is included.
